South Wellington Coast - Red Rocks, NZ Fur Seals |
What we did not realise was that the stroll was 8km (5 mi) each way. |
Eventually we made it... but only because a nice local in a pick up truck complete with dead opossum in the back tray, picked us up and took us the last 3 km. He even gave us a ride back... thank goodness for that. It definitely did not look 8 km each way on the map from the carpark where we parked... stupid tourists. |
These seals are the young males that did not get girl friends this breeding season... so in theory they are less aggressive, but it does pay to keep a respectful distance. Also they do smell a bit... |
The coast is rugged but very beautiful. |

Of course I made beautiful scenery even more so. |
No visit to Wellington is complete without a trip up the cable car. |
That white and pink building on the right reminds me of that one Zelgadis likes to use in his CJ.... |

Wellington Harbour and CBD at dusk from Oriental Bay. |
We had dinner here... but we had beef steaks... honest Zel! |
