Home Town to an Admiral |
|
Atkiniros is one of the first towns established off of the home island of Schulmanicus. The town was founded by Admiral Hestorb, one of the great early explorers of Schulmania, who later became Queen of the Kingdom of Schulmanicus. Hestorb maintains her residence in the town, located in a prominent spot between the center and the sea. The town has grown around its church and market square. The tall bell tower is the site of the annual paper airplane contest. A your local resident, Leonardo da Pinchy, used his experience in this contest to develop Schulmania’s first flying machine—the hang glider. Remaining true to its agricultural origins, the small town is surrounded on nearly three sides by small family farms. One of the important sites in town is Kitten Manor. An all-feline school with high academic standards, Kitten Manor is where the cuneiform alphabet was developed for cats to record their previously oral traditions. The Feline Literacy Project was a milestone in Schulminion cultural development. The town shares an aqueduct system with neighboring Atkinos. The aqueduct also serves as the boundary between the two towns. The entire town has been declared a national historic landmark. New development must be approved and be consistent with the scale and character of the surrounding cityscape. Most buildings are renovated rather than being replaced. |
