Atkinos is one of the first towns founded off of the home island of Schulmanicus. Located south southeast of Schulmanicus, the island of Atkinos hosts two cities, small Atkiniros and Atkinos, often referred to as “Atkinos Town.” The island was discovered by Captain Splunt during the initial explorations from Schulmanicus. He founded the town on the western side of the island. Atkinos and neighboring Gran Maru have vied for centuries to be the largest city in Schulmania. Atkinos has been a perpetual close second in the population count to Gran Maru until the foundation of Robinia. Captain Splunt, the founder, served as Atkinos’ first mayor for a long time, until he was promoted to becoming the Grand Duke of East Atkinos. Given the nickname “The Isle of Smiles” by tourism agents, Atkinos lives up to this moniker by being a bright, sunny place with cheerful citizens and exciting destinations. Atkinos has contributed heavily to Schulminion society. In addition to its leadership in arts and letters, Atkinos is the birthplace of the ubiquitous Chicken King restaurant franchise, the first and largest fast food eatery in the realm. One unique achievement is the fist printing press designed for feline cuneiform in the world. This has made Atkinos a center of feline learning and a gathering spot for aspiring feline authors. The central location of the island makes it a cultural and commercial crossroads. The busy harbor serves vessels from every region and the redeveloped Triangle neighborhood has become a destination for beachgoers. |

The Memorial Church was built overlooking a steep cliff in memory of the presumed-to-be-lost Schulmericho expedition, which departed from Atkinos. Later, many survivors were found on an island named New Atkinos. |

The first fast food restaurant and first franchised retailer in Schulmania is the Chicken King, established on Atkinos’ south side and the largest, most popular and widespread retail establishment in the nation. |
