Cedar Bluff, New Atkinos

Cedar Bluff hugs the cliffs along the eastern shore of New Atkinos, sandwiched between the water and the rugged peak of Rocky Top, Schulmania’s highest mountain.

At The Base of Rocky Top

The small town of Cedar Bluff is only the second settlement on New Atkinos, a rugged island dominated by the Rocky Top mountain. The town follows the contours of the northeastern bluffs, from which the town gets its name. The town features a small commercial and civic district of mainly Southern and Island style structures as well as a narrow band of housing along the shore. All of this is dominated by the oversized Mission Church of St. Hazel.  Built in a style reminiscent of Memorial Church in Atkinos, this building is far more ambitious and makes an exceptional, unique use of small domes on its roofline.

The town was built to accommodate trade across the channel from New Atkinos to points east on the mainland. It also serves as a tourist destination for those interested in hiking or camping on Rocky Top. Rocky Top, the highest point in Schulmania, is a popular destination for those interested in nature. As the gateway to the  mountain, whose environs have been protected as part of the national park system, Cedar Bluff has become a town with many inns and bed-and-breakfast establishments.

The small town is dominated by the local church, the Mission Church of St. Hazel.

A small commercial district serves the town well. A statue of Fleet Captain von Bremerhaven stands at the western end of Commerce Street.
