Schulmania has responded to a modern world filled with many other nations. The Supreme Wirdle has created a new agency, the Diplomatic Office, to establish and maintain relations with like-minded states. The Diplomatic Office will be headquartered in Friendsville, an international city on the Tenne coast, not far from the new capital. Nations seeking relations with Schulmania may contact the Diplomatic Office to begin negotiations. Once relations are established, nations are encouraged to establish an embassy in Friendsville. Consulates in other locations are possible, with certain conditions. Signatories of the Coronation Accord may also establish consulates in Bureau of Feline Affairs territories. To be considered for diplomatic relations with Schulmania, an interested nation will have several avenues to pursue before negotiations can begin. Those are as follows: 1. Be a felinocracy (feline-run government) or be a pro-feline government. A pro-feline government is defined as providing, at minimum, equal right to feline and non-feline residents and having established laws for the protection and admiration of its feline population. 2. Be approved for membership in the Wirdle’s Canine Council—an organization for pro-feline governments of canine nations. Applicants for the WCC must be approved by Ambassador W. P. Schonheit of Schulmauckland for inclusion. Once included, the nation may begin negotiations. 3. Non-felinocracies centered around the adoration of felines are encouraged to seek relations with Schulmania. (That means you, Ancient Egypt). Additionally, any nation seeking to establish and maintain diplomatic relations with Schulmania will need to meet several conditions, shown below. 1. Do not have diplomatic, economic, cultural or military relations with the Queensferry Union. 2. Permit the establishment of embassies and/or consulates for the Government of Schulmania and the Bureau of Feline Affairs. 3. Follow guidelines for access to Friendsville regarding the use of motorized vehicles and other newfangled contraptions not in use in greater Schulmania. Schulmania, in the past, has not had relationships with other nations. It is not because of isolationism or xenophobia. Rather, Schulmania had not discovered other nations yet. That did not mean that we had no contact with the outside world. Felines tend to roam and explore. As we have, we have encountered felines living elsewhere. Inviting non-Schulminion felines to the most recent coronation of the Supreme Wirdle led to the creation of the Coronation Accord, forming the Feline Interplanetary Friendship Association. A later signatory to the Coronation Accord is the Republic of Milton Bay. The Bureau of Feline Affairs handles relations with felines everywhere and is not bound by political boundaries. The BFA has liaison agencies in many jurisdictions and maintains relations with vassal states, external feline populations and sanctioned organizations. |
