Schulmania had discovered the great salt ocean to the east. Frontier outposts in eastern Devonshire quickly grew into towns. Over time, the eastern towns stagnated as the governor shifted resources to the district capital. Development in East Devonshire has been hampered by the inept rule of its governor, shifting eastern ocean development to East Atkinos. The Grand Duchy of East Atkinos is centered around its capital, West Forest. Ably led by Fleet Captain Splunt, East Atkinos has capitalized on the stagnation in East Devonshire by establishing its lone seaport at Woods of Wayne, the City of Flowers. The region was first settled at East St. Paul, a town most noted for its landmark church and distinguished university. The only exception to the general prosperity of East Atkinos is the town of Oras, founded by a dissident group led by the charismatic and enigmatic Llama Larry.
Just as much action was taking place on the western frontier. The Tenne Sea had been tamed for years, but no western shore had ever been found. Admiral Hestorb developed a fleet of strong ships to sail against the prevailing winds. Her discovery of the mainland to the west opened a new frontier for development and encouraged Schulmania to name a town in her honor. The new Kingdom of Tenne, founded in the western lands, developed several towns quickly and established a temporary capital at Knoxvegas. Tenne includes the mouths of two mighty rivers. The Tenne River delta has several islands, many of which have been preserved as natural areas.
Growth and prosperity led to intense development across the nation. The south became the most populous area in Schulmania after the establishment of a new Wirdleonia capital at Robinia. Robinia became the largest city in Schulmania and spurred the growth of towns in the Wirdleonian Plains, including Tanagiers to the east, Belva Dear to the north and Schulmanukau to the west. Schulmanukau was developed after the source of the Wirdleonia River was found to the very southwest and inspired by a state visit to Schulmauckland. |
