Military Briefing 04: Front Line Fortifications—East Atkinos |
|
A series of new fortifications have been built in the Eastern Theater to assist with our defense against Queensferry invasion forces. The entire IV Corps and X Corps, five divisions, has been fortifying strategic positions in eastern Devonshire, offshore islands, and the eastern Atkinos coast. Elements of the VII and VIII Corps have been assuming positions in eastern Atkinos.
Defenses are centered around preventing a Queensferry amphibious assault and containing incursions onto the mainland. Field Marshal Chancellor Mooky, in charge of forces in the Eastern Theater of Operations, has developed a strategy to contain and eliminate enemy forays onto our territory by use of fortified lines and castles placed at strategic points.
Enemy interest seems to be centered around the large offshore islands and the mainland proximate to them. Intelligence analysis suggests that Queensferry may envision capturing an island and using it as a jumping off point for full-scale invasion of the homeland. To prevent such a scenario, a defensive line has been placed across the midsection of the island, south of Methane Mills. Two camps for military personnel have been placed on the northern side of the line, Camp Hiss and Camp Growl. At the center of the fortified line sits the masonry Chateau Briand, the command post for the island’s defenses. Stationed at Chateau Briand and Camps Hiss and Growl are the following units: IV Corps 6th and 7th Divisions, Regiments 113-118 in their entirety. In supporting roles are naval vessels from the Second Fleet, III Squadron and balloonists from Air Force Balloon Squads 3 and 4.
Fortified lines have been established in several places parallel to the eastern coastline in East Atkinos and eastern Devonshire. These lines are being manned by the IV Corps 8th Division, VII Corps 14th Division and VIII Corps 17th Division. Bureau of Feline Affairs military units from X Corps 21st Division and XI Corps 23rd Division.
At the southern end of the island, a small castle has been established at the site of the settlement of Oras, which was destroyed by Queensferry forces in the initial attack on Schulmania. IV Corps 7th Division 119th Regiment is using Castillo de las Fajitas as a base of operations to patrol the southern half of the island.
